Happy New Year…

I want to wish all a very happy and prosperous new year.

I would also like everyone to take a few moments and reflect on the past year and think what has happened in your lives as well as what has happened in the world.

Not just the trivial junk like Tiger Woods cheating on his wife and trying to hide it, not just another sports star getting arrested or another music star dying.  I mean the big things.  The things that really matter, the lives that were lost in a war, the lives that were given so that others may live or have freedom.

Things that have happened in not only our country, but other countries of this small world of ‘ours’.  Yes, it is not truly ‘our’ world.  It belongs to no one, yet everyone at the same time, but in the end, it is insignificant in the grand scheme of what will happen in the end.  We fight over a few inches or feet on our property lines, we fight over states, nations, hell over whole continents and to what end?

I know a lot of you out there may not read this till well into the day after you’ve recovered from your hangovers, or woken up from your drunken stupors.  I’ve been there, I’ve done the whole get falling down drunk thing, I’ve partied like a rock star and whored around like a porn star.  I’ve done things in the past that I’m not proud of and I’ve done things in the past that I am proud of.  I sort of miss some of those rock star/porn star times, but the thing that I’m most proud of in my entire life is my son.  I have endured some hardships due to him, my wife and I both.  We can’t just pick up and go out for a night out, we have to make sure that he’s taken care of, unless we take him with us.  We can’t watch whatever we want when we want, we have to keep him in mind.  We can’t have ‘alone’ time whenever/wherever we want, we need to be careful.  But in the end, I’m happy we have Mitchell, I wouldn’t change a thing.

I think back on the last year and all of the high points of the year, and actually of the last three years,  and almost all of them involve my son.  He is what I work for, he is what I strive to do better by, he is what I want, no, NEED to provide for.  I need to show him that he can be anything he wants. That he can accomplish whatever he wants and to become the best he can be.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, happy new year and may the future hold better things for all.
