The Last NASA Mission to the moon

How many missions were there to the moon?

Let’s go ahead and count them:

20 July, 1969 - Apollo 11

14 November, 1969 - Apollo 12

31 January, 1971 - Apollo 14

26 July, 1971 - Apollo 15

16 April, 1972 - Apollo 16

7 December, 1972 - Apollo 17

19 December, 1973 - Apollo 18

Yup, that makes 7.  Wait, what?  You didn’t know about Apollo 18 in December 1973?  Hmmm, not many people do.  NASA doesn’t even really acknowledge it.  But some enterprising filmmaker has released the footage.

Gonzalo López-Gallego’s Apollo 18 Documentary:

Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it’s the real reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.
